We are still waiting for the sun. Every once in a while, the sun will pop out for a few minutes just to let us know it's still there. Somewhere.
It rained all day yesterday, and it's rained most of today so far. Of course, snow is in the forecast, too. We have had snow as late as June and as early as July. Me, personally, I'd like summer to last longer than a month.
Chip sure does like watching the rain and snow falling, from the warm vantage point of the ottoman in a warm house.
The many shades of green are very pretty, and soon there will be wildflowers of different colors thrown in. When we first moved up here in 2006, we couldn't believe all the water and the green. So different from the Mojave desert. With all the snow and rain, we'd still rather be up here than down there.

Another Bright Sunny Day. Not!
Well, here it is, another bright sunny day, with a breeze. Note the sarcasm. It's been so long since it's been a bright sunny day. Even when we've had sun, it hasn't been without clouds and for a whole day. We even have snow in the forecast. Some spring, so far.
I have notices wildflowers starting to pop out of the ground and then trees are starting to bud out. It figures, because we are suppose to be below freezing for a couple of nights this week.
I do like watching the sheep behind us. Two brown sheep are pretty entertaining. For some reason, they jump straight into the air, like they have been goosed, and then they continue as if nothing happened. So far, there is still only one little lamb, and they have all stayed out of our yard. Chip isn't used to them so close, so it's his duty to bark at them all day when he sees movement.
I used to raise angora goats, and I miss having goats around. I do admit, my poor old body isn't in any shape to care for them anymore, so I'll just enjoy the sheep behind us.
The kids behind us have lost their play area since it's been taken over by farm animals. They are really interested in the stick house the kids made. I hope no animals fall in, since the kids dug a really deep hole under the stick house.
I think after this last freeze, it will be time to put out the hummingbird feeders. We found a good spot for the bluebird house and Tim says he'll build me more. We've scoped out where we are going to enlarge the garden to.
The pear and apple tree aren't doing very well. We are thinking the guy at the nursery told us wrong when he said they were the variety that didn't need other trees to cross pollinate with. We'll be getting more apple and pear trees. Tim also wants a couple apricots and plum trees. I think part of our tree's problem is the moles. Maybe, since the trees haven't done much, we will have to move our orchard. That is the royal "we". Someone needs to supervise, so it might as well be me.

Life In A Snow Globe is now Living In A Snow Globe
I think I might have confused some people when I changed my blog name from Life In A Snow Globe to Living In A Snow Globe. I changed the name because the latter is closer to the address which is livinginasnow-globe.blogspot.com. It's the same thrilling blog.
We are having a temporary break in the rain right at the moment. I'm sure it won't last. The birds are enjoying the break. They are trying to get the food out of the abandoned squirrel feeder. I guess it will have to modified into a bird feeder.
Yesterday morning when I went to get a closer look at the garden, the sunflower seeds were doing nothing. Later in the afternoon. 6 had popped up. The carrots still aren't doing anything. Maybe they are bad seeds. With all the rain, they might come up all over the garden.
I'm sure I planted too much spinach to be ready at one time, but I planned on freezing it. Last year, the spinach went to seed before it even got leaves. Strange.
The potatoes haven't come up yet, but they took a while last year. We still need to get more to plant.
Most of the 300 onions are coming up. I keep thinking I should get more to plant. We go through a lot of onions, and I plan on dehydrating and freezing a good portion of them.
The tomatoes are doing pretty well in the walls of water. They are almost up to the tops of them now. We heard on a news program the other day, that the proper way to plant the plants is to strip off most of the leaves and plant then sideways. This way they are suppose to get more roots and have a stronger base. Maybe if we get more tomatoes, we will try this. We did plant some seeds also, last week, but, as of today, they haven't come up.
I haven't started my sewing projects yet, but I did come up with more of them. I have one baby afghan almost finished, so I guess that's progress. We seem to be having a grandchild baby boom around here, so baby afghans are what I have been working on lately.
I have managed to get most of the spring cleaning done, thanks to all this rain. Once I'm done, does this mean I can ignore the house and do what I want to do? It sounds like a plan to me. Of course, all this rain is also making the weeds grow like crazy, so the garden will need weeded. Then there is the flower bed I haven't planted yet. It might be getting too late for that, even though it's only early June.
I was talking to our son, Daniel, the other day, and telling him I have to star stocking up for winter soon. He thought that was really funny, since it was still May then. I told him life is different up here, and we have to think of these things long before the snow comes, and I hear it's suppose to be another record snow year. We did switch the living room and den around, so I'll have different windows to stare out.
For now, we just watch the birds and the weeds grow.

Never Ending Rain, But The Garden Is Growing
Our garden is growing in our never ending rain. I can see green from the window, and since it's coming up in rows, I figure it's veggies. The deer haven't even tromped thru it yet. Maybe they don't like all this rain. I figure since I'm stuck in the house, I might as well clean it. I haven't started sewing yet, but I did fold those towels, so I guess I'm making some progress.
All this rain is making everything so very green. Very pretty shades of green.
Puddles of water with rings of yellow pine pollen around them. I never knew pines had so much pollen until we moved up here. Could it be, because there aren't that many pines in the desert?

Rain, Rain, Go Away
I like rain, but enough is enough, already. The ground can't hold anymore, and I'm not really sure I know what a sunny day that lasts all day long, is anymore. I sleep too late because it's just good sleeping weather. If it's not rain, it's the fog that rolls in like it does in a good horror movie. It creeps in and then sworms around. You can see the mist in the air. Even the turkeys haven't been around, lately. Once the weather does clear up, I really need to clean the windows, inside and out. Not my favorite thing to do. It really could be worse. It could be another snowpocolypse like last year. Yes, snowpocolypse is the official word for last year.

Was That Sunshine?
I think I saw sunshine yesterday for about half an hour. I'm not really sure, since it's been raining for 2 weeks and gray and foggy when it's not raining. Whatever it was, it sure was bright. I almost had to close the blinds some, but by the time I was going to close them, it was gone. I saw some more of it for about 10 minutes today, but it was on a distant hill. All our rain saturated ground turned to ice over night, with a very, very, light dusting of snow. It's very slick outside, so I'm inside.

'Tis The Season For....Mud?
Well, it's that time of year again. Mud season. We had an 1 1/2 -2 inches of snow Friday. It sure looked pretty. It started earlier this year than last. Now, we get rain. Snow+ rain= mud. Muddy dog and cat paw prints all over the kitchen floor since they haven't learned to wipe their feet yet. Jake, the dog, hates icky feet. Murphy, the cat, could care less about icky feet. Me, I just get to stay inside so I don't slip and break anything again this year. Oh, and I get to dry off the soggy cat and wipe Jake's feet off. At least, he has learned to stay on the rug until I'm done. Yes, I know. I wanted seasons other than brown, but mud is brown. Remember walking through the mud bare footed as a kid? Splashing in puddles? Snowball fights? Now that I am older, it's hot chocolate with lots of marsmellows, and a good book. Life is good.

Life In a Soggy Snow Globe
Fall is here, and so is the rain. No snow yet, but maybe Friday. Our weather lady says it's supposed to be less snowy than last year. Jake, our dog, won't go out in the rain unless you really make him, and then he gives you dirty looks the whole time. He doesn't like to get his feet muddy. Murphy, the cat, comes in one door, only to go out the other door, and then around the house to the first door, only to do it all over again. All day long. Murphy doesn't really mind rain, unless it's pouring heavily. On some trips through the house, Murphy will want his food, so I put it down only for him to decide it's not what he raelly wants. You have to make sure he doesn't see the bottom of his food dish, or he comes and gets you to let you know he needs food. So I shake his dish if there is a lot of food in it and add more if needed. Maybe it has something to do with his starving kitten days before he found us. When we do get snow, the in and out routine will be reversed. Jake will want to stay out and Murphy will be quite happy in his rocking chair by the heater vent. He's no dummy, just weird.

What! No rain?
Here it is, the 4th of July, and no rain. It has always, more often than not, rained on July 3rd and or 4th. The 3rd was my birthday and it rained the day I was born, and just about every birthday since then, no matter where we have lived. I'm kind of disappointed. It would be better than temperatures in the 90's. We do have a slight chance of thunder storms tomorrow night and Monday thru Thursday, but it won't be the same.
