Oh, The Joys Of Homeownership

Yesterday, we had a plumbing problem and I hope not to have it again. Backed up sewage in the walk in shower. Yuck!!! Our septic tank is either full, or it's just not draining because the ground happens to frozen rock hard. It's much cheaper if the ground is frozen than if the tank is full because it will cost $300.00 to get it pumped.
We have had rain, snow and frozen rain lately. The yard is a slippery mess. I think it's a good thing I can't go out now.
The bears still don't have any clothes and I haven't started the others yet. I have been busy but have nothing to show for it. I did make a cute elephant I named Nelli Funt. Now, I need to make a lot more to send to Daniel to try and sell. Other critters besides Nelli Funt.

Michaela has new toys. Small cans of Mighty Dog dog food. I have them stacked in the pantry, all 5 of them, and she likes to take them and put them in a line by the front door. Once they are all there, she carries them all back to the pantry and leaves them in front of the door. See, she didn't need toys bought for her. She also likes hot pads, egg separators and measuring spoons an cups. Oven mitts are also good.
If it wasn't for the antics of a 13 month old, it would be really dull around here.

Those Darned Robins

Tim is having robin trouble. A while back, a robin built a nest on top of his ladder that's leaning under the eaves of the shed. Those eggs hatched and flew the coop and Tim got rid of the empty nest. A week or two ago, the same robin, or another one, built another nest on top of the same ladder and laid eggs in it. Now, whenever Tim goes to the shed, this robin dives at his head.
On Tuesday, Tim planted our fruit trees. A couple of the cherry trees had cherries on them. As soon as he stood up from planting the last cherry tree, this robin gets in the tree, thrashes around, knocking cherries off the tree, having a high old time. Tim thinks he hates robins now.
Summer has stuck around for a week or so now, so things are starting to grow, at last. I will add, that we had 2 days of 95 degree temperatures, and it was waaaay too hot. Some people are just never satisfied. It's too hot, it's too cold, it's too wet, it's too cloudy, whine, whine whine.
Michaela is starting to crawl, in between the belly flops. She really likes my old measuring spoons and a wooden spatula.
I haven't even started sewing yet. I guess if summer really decides to stick around, I should get a jump on it. I have been reading books that I am reviewing for thewmreviewconnection.com. One down, 3 more to go. It keeps me out of trouble.
My estate sale find of the day is a brand new, still in the box, indoor TV antenna for my kitchen TV. It was one of those things I was going to buy one of these days when I had the money. This one cost me $2.00. People just shake their heads about how I find just what I'm looking for at sales. I thinks it's funny, not haha funny exactly, more like weird. We also stopped at a church yard sale and I bought 2 more cookbooks, because you can never have too many, and a little ceramic fresh cream bottle that looks like it needs daisies in it. I could use some more money, but I really think the chances of finding any at a yard sale are slim. I'll keep my eye out for some, just in case.

It's hot!

We moved up here to get away from the heat, but it found us. Yesterday was 93 and today was 92. Not too long ago there was snow on the ground and we were complaining about too much snow. There's just no pleasing some people. I guess I need to summer in Alaska and winter in Washington. At least there was a little breeze that helped. I had to break down and turn on the air conditioner. The ceiling fans just weren't cutting it. There is a towel hanging over the back door and cardboard in the skylight. Those helped. It's a good thing it gets into the 40's and 50's at night. Good sleeping with the windows open weather. I do worry about some critter coming through the windows at night when they are open since they are low to the ground. Who knows. You may get a there's a moose in my house blog. You would think since I've lived most of my life in deserts I'd be used to the heat. I've never done heat well. I just don't do heat. Give me weather in the 70's and I'm happy.
